Basic Needs and Emergency Assistance

Basic Needs and Emergency Assistance

Small gifts make a big impact. Our Basic Needs and Emergency Assistance Program offers prompt, responsive support when students need it most, alleviating unexpected burdens such as lack of nutritious food, transportation, or access to technology that otherwise could lead to them dropping out.

Keep students fed, connected, and on track

By delivering funds and support when and where they are needed most, our streamlined emergency grant process gets quick results and keeps students on track.

College is hard. Getting food shouldn’t have to be.

We partner with Second Harvest of Silicon Valley and West Valley Community Services to offer food assistance to any student who needs it. Our colleges make getting groceries simple, offering daily food distribution hours for our student and local resident communities.

When staying online means staying in school.

Easy access to basic technology, including a laptop computer and a good Wi-Fi connection, is key to academic success. For our students who don’t have the funds required to purchase their own, Mission and West Valley Colleges offer a no-cost loan program in which several hundred students each semester receive a laptop and hotspot connection.

The Emergency Assistance Program helped bridge the gap so Lesley could stay on track academically while her mom recovered.

When her mom was injured and couldn't work, Lesley's family went from just getting by to being in financial trouble.
