Lynn Rossmann named this endowment for all the women who choose to further their education
at a four-year California public institution. Lynn herself worked as a counselor/psychologist
at the college from 1976 to 2008 and was instrumental in advancing the re-entry program
there. The program consisted of an Introduction to College class and a Careers class,
both of which she taught, and intensive individual counseling. Scholarship candidates
mostly came from underrepresented and economically disadvantaged communities. Awardees
expressed their gratitude by writing thank you letters to the donor, and sharing their
hopes and aspirations as they continued their educational journeys. In addition to
re-entry, Lynn represented the counseling department on the Academic Senate and the
Financial Aid Appeals Committee. Lynn transmitted her enthusiasms and commitment to
all the counselors whom she had the good fortune to recommend to be hired. "West Valley
College has given me so much," says Lynn, "and I am proud to have been fortunate enough
to return something of significance to its students.
