Members of the Finley family have resided in the towns of Saratoga and Los Gatos since
the mid-1960s, spanning four generations. From grandparents who bought an old gas
station on Santa Cruz Avenue in Los Gatos to start a real estate business to their
descendants of engineers, accountants, insurance agents, antique dealers, car tire
business entrepreneurs, writers, community volunteers, children who grew up here,
students who attended Los Gatos, Saratoga, and Lynbrook High Schools.
The family has witnessed the valley's transformation from fruit orchards to computer
start-ups. They treasure the orchard-turned-tech towns and communities that shaped
their lives, opportunities, and futures. As the family shared,“We feel truly blessed that we have been given much and would like to support the
next generation.”
The Finley Family Scholarship was established in honor of the place they have called
home for more than half a century, a place they hold with gratitude and appreciation,
and in the hope that this scholarship will empower future generations of students
to learn and thrive, take pride in the region’s heritage, and honor the legacy of
those who helped make this unique and endearing community what it is today.
